Bristol City manager Derek McInnes has told fans that there is no need to panic about the club not bringing in a new striker to replace Nicky Maynard.

There are a few striking problems as Maynard went to West Ham, David Clarkson will miss the rest of the season with a fractured ankle and Ryan Taylor is out with a foot problem.

That means that the only firepower City have got at the moment is Brett Pitman, Jon Stead and Chris Wood.

‘There’s no real panic:‘ McInnes told BBC Radio Bristol.

These three have all got the capability to score goals.’

As far as players coming into Ashton Gate, the boss made no signings himself on deadline day, bit does point out to fans that they are already making enquiries about emergency loans.

‘Do I think the three will be enough to see us between now and the end of the season? I would have my doubts about that,’ McInnes added.

‘We were always looking for a couple of loans. There’s been loads of phone calls but sometimes you’ve got to be patient to get the right ones. Hopefully our patience will be rewarded.”
