While all at Bristol City were happy at getting an away goal and a point, Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray was not as happy.
Referee Colin Webster was the reason he had a bit of a sulk on after the official failed to give the home side a penalty in the final minutes.
It could well have been a valid call Adam Hammil jinxed his way into the box and got caught between two defenders and squeezed a bit, the home side appealed, but the ref just showed no interest.
‘He was blocked in the box and nine times out of 10 that is a penalty,’ said Mowbray. ‘Anywhere other than the box and that is a definite free-kick.’
Earlier in the game Hogan Ephraim had given City the lead in his debut game, only to see Malaury Martin level things up
But the draw was not good enough for Mowbray who really wanted all three points from the game so his side could keep up their challenge for a play-off spot.
He went on: ‘No excuses, we just weren’t good enough.
‘We know the opportunity was there for us and that other results have gone our way so naturally we are bitterly disappointed.
Winning matches is hard work for us. We have created an expectation this season with where we are in the table but the reality is that we not a team that can dominate games.’
