Many fans will be disappointed and shocked to learn that goalkeeper Steve Phillips has asked for a transfer.
Steve had enjoyed a run of 159 successive appearances in the first team until being replaced recently by Brazilian Adriano Basso. It was thought that Steve would stay and fight to reclaim his first team spot, particularly as he has been granted a testimonial year which only started on January 1st.However,Steve is clearly unhappy at the current situation and so Gary johnson has agreed to circulate his name as being available for transfer.
Wycombe Wanderers ,who are keen to resign Richard Keogh, are one club on the lookout for a new keeper and have recent transfer income available to strengthen their squad.
As far as incoming players are concerned Gary Johnson has said that this weekend’s training trip to Portugal will not delay his transfer activity as his mobile will, no doubt, remain red hot. It transpires that Belgian first Division side Standard Liege are on the Algarve at the same time as City and Gary may try to set up a friendly match between the sides.
