Poor City beaten

City lost their first game in 18 games after a tierd looking performance lead to the hard working Cheltenham – aided by awful Rob Styles – winning the game 0-1.
From the first minute City looked sloppy, tierd and they wern’t helped by a poor atmosphere within the crowd at an over-all tierd sounding and looking Ashton Gate.

After a poor starting to the game, there was a big shock as Scott Brown collided with his own player Spencer when lining up for a shot. This lead to an 8 minute break in play which lead to Scotty Brown being taken off with a broken leg. My mate described his leg as ‘wrecked’ and another friend said he has got a horrendous break in which he heard a ‘crack’.
All of us here at bristolcity.vitalfootball wish Scott the best!

Cheltenham were the quickest starters after the delay in play when JJ Melligan hit a 30 yard effort just wide of the post.

City then had to wait for the 35 minute mark to have a meaningfull effort saved when Andrews turned and shot straight at keeper Higgs.

Melligan then tested Basso from a freekick which Basso did well to hold onto.

The game started to then pick up as a Murray shot was well saved by keeper Higgs.

This then lead to Cheltenhams lead after poor defending from City, failing to clear a Melligan free-kicks after chances to do so, Spencer finished into the bottom corner giving Cheltenham a deserved lead.

When 6 minutes of extra time was added on- which should have been 10- City were hoping to equalise but Cheltenham were the side looking most likely to score a second. Which they so nearly did when a Melligan shot was deflected over the bar from McCombe.

City so nearly got the equaliser when a burst forward from Orr lead to good work from Andrews and himself. Orr was then set free in the box but saw his effort saved by Higgs.

A shock half-time sub was then in line when Betsy came on for Andrews to make his debut.

Again though Cheltenham started the quickest and credit to them when Jerry Gills stinging shot looked like it would bulge into the bottom corner but an superb outstretched Basso claw put to ball away to safety.

City then pressed on for the equaliser with both Showumni and Skuse having chances that both went wide.

Murray then missed an Orr ball when he could have stabbed home and McAllister shot straight at Higgs when he should have done better.

The impressive Betsy then worked Higgs into a good save whilst McCombe went close but not close enough as City lost there first game in 19.
