The pressure is off Bristol City tonight as they make the long trip north to take on promotion hopefuls Hull City.

Steve Bruce’s men will make a return to the Premier League if they can beat the Robins tonight and Watford fail to beat Blackburn on Saturday.

Hull will be going all out for victory as they look to join Cardiff in an automatic promotion place; they will want to get their place booked at the earliest opportunity.

But if City manage to pull off an unlikely win at the KC Stadium, then Cardiff would be promoted as champions of the division.

Hull are unlikely to have midfielder Robert Koren in the side on Friday night after he was forced out of Tuesday night’s defeat at Wolves with a calf injury.

Striker Jay Simpson replaced Koren in midweek, but Bruce also has midfielder Tom Cairney to fall back on should he wish to alter things.

Midfielder Corry Evans will definitely miss the game as he has been suspended for two games for reaching ten bookings; tonight’s game is the second one.

The Tigers also have defender Paul McShane back at their disposal after making a comeback from an ankle ligaments injury that was supposed to keep him out of action for the rest of the season.

The Robins are hoping to have Marvin Elliott back for the trip; he missed the game against Birmingham on Tuesday.

But two players who are doubtful with ankle problems are centre-back Liam Fontaine and midfielder Stephen Pearson, while Ryan Taylor is also extremely doubtful because of a collarbone injury.

Wes Burns could make his second appearance of the week after being recalled from his loan spell with Forest Green Rovers.
