Gary Johnson has admitted that he could well be set to add a new face or two ahead of tomorrow’s Football League transfer deadline.

The City gaffer has convinced the board to release more funds in a bid to boost his squad ahead of tomorrow’s 5pm deadline.

Vital Bristol City understands the club are in the market for a target man and have identified a midfielder too.

Johnson told the Bristol Evening Post after Saturday’s win over Middlesbrough: “There could well be a bit of business between now and Tuesday.

“We’ve made enquiries for a couple of players and we’re now waiting to see what happens. Very often, things happen on deadline day itself and that could be the case with us.

“We’re looking and it would be nice to add to our squad if we can before the close of business on Tuesday.”

West Brom’s Roman Bednar and Everton’s Victor Anichebe have been linked as potential targets today, whilst BBC Scotland are reporting that we could be in for Celtic’s Chris Killen.

There are also more credible reports eminating from Costa Rica that striker Alvaro Saborio could be on his way from FC Sion in Switzerland.

Bednar seems unlikely but he knows several of City’s squad from his days at Hearts whilst the Robins and Everton have a good relationship through ex-City centre back and current Everton manager David Moyes.

Lee Trundle’s loan move to Swansea is thought to have convinced the board to free up funds for another loan signing and we understand the club are close to sealing a move ahead of tomorrow’s 5pm deadline, should the player in question successfully pass a medical.

Two players that won’t be signing on at Ashton Gate are Vincent Pericard and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie.

Both were on trial last week but Johnson seems unlikely to offer them deals due to concerns over their fitness.

Meanwhile, reports coming out of Holland today have stated that City are set to sign former Celtic midfielder Evander Sno on loan from Ajax.

Given that he was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch when the two sides met in a friendly last month, this would be a truely tremendous signing.
