Seven players have been told their services are no longer required at Ashton Gate with midfielder Cole Skuse and striker Jon Stead headlining the list.

Local lad Skuse has been with City for nine years and made 307 games for the club, we do know that Ipswich Town are interested in taking the player.

30 year old Stead is expected to go back up north he has been with City for three seasons and managed 83 appearances, finding the back of the net 20 times.

Other players on their way through the exit door at Ashton Gate are Mark Wilson, Brian Howard, Matthew Bates, Dean Gerken and Lewis Carey.

Vital City wishes all the players leaving the best of luck.

On a brighter side for other players, there have been new deals offered to Tom Heaton, Lewin Nyatanga and Louis Carey.

Director of Football Keith Burt told the BBC: ‘The head coach believes Tom and Lewin would be key players for us in League One next season and we’ll be making offers to them both.

‘With Louis, his experience and know-how is seen as important for what we believe will be a young squad.’
