Smith missed the win at Nottingham Forest last Saturday because of an ankle injury.
But the ankle in question has responded well to treatment and he returned to training in the second half of this week.
Boss Lee Johnson is confident that the Vice captain will be back, he told the Bristol Post: ‘It is one of those injuries that can flare up very quickly and become painful.
‘But it is the type of injury that can also clear up very quickly and Korey feels as though he is going to be okay for Saturday’s game.
‘It’s too early to say for sure, but things are looking pretty good for Korey and we could well have him back for what is going to be a massive game.’
