Midfielder Korey Smith has said he’s relishing Bristol City’s trip to Sheffield United this weekend.

Having clinched promotion from League One whilst lifting the title, Chris Wilder’s side have adjusted well to the second tier winning 12 of the 20 games so far at this level and until recently they were ahead of us in the table, however last weekend’s fixtures with us winning and them losing sees us draw level on points and we go into Friday’s clash with only goal difference separating us in third and fourth place.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media in the build up to the game, Smith explained that he expected it would be an open and entertaining match.

‘It should be a great game! Sheffield United have been absolutely brilliant this year and fair play to them, they have really continued their form from last season. They have great players who work hard, as we do, so it should be an entertaining game.’

Pressed on whether the Bramall Lane outfit had been one of the surprise packages of the year, Smith felt that was too simplistic as they showed their qualities last season.

‘No, not really. They have good players, it’s a great club, with a brilliant stadium. We know what football is like, it’s not the first time someone has come up and really shown great form so fair play to them but on Friday we will be looking to get the three points ourselves. We’re not looking at their form. We are concentrating on ourselves. We are playing well at the moment, have got back-to-back wins and we will go there and try to get the three points.’

With the FA Cup third round draw pitting us against Watford, Smith went on to say that with a League Cup win under our belts against Marco Silva’s side already this year, we would go into the tie confident.

‘Obviously we had Watford away in the Carabao Cup last time so it was interesting to draw them again. We beat them last time so we can go back there with positive energy and we will try to do that again.’
