The Championship season concluded with the final round of games played over the weekend.

A last minute Aston Villa equaliser at Villa Park prevented Brighton from going into the Premier League as champions, that honour fell to Newcastle, who saw off Barnsley at St James’ Park.

The play-off spots were already confirmed but Reading’s victory securing them third ahead of Sheffield Wednesday, fourth, Huddersfield, fifth, and Fulham, well clear of Leeds, seventh, in the end.

At the other end Blackburn’s victory over Brentford wasn’t enough to keep them in the Championship – Rovers will be in League 1 next season along with Wigan and Rotherham as victories for Birmingham and Nottingham Forest, against Bristol City and Ipswich, respectively, secured final day safety.

Here’s a round-up of the Championship goals and some key action too.
