The Championship season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.

Bolton’s difficult start to life back in the Championship continued on Friday when the Trotters were heavily beaten at Hull.

Arguably, Saturday’s most surprising result saw Barnsley inflict a second successive defeat on Sunderland – the Tykes thrashing the Black Cats 3-0 at Oakwell. Meanwhile, Reading’s second win in three saw the Royals’ improvement continue but Birmingham’s early season struggles ongoing.

Brentford remain winless after a draw against Wolves, which was enough to take the Bees off the foot of the table – Wolves dropped to fourth.

A fifth successive win for Cardiff was secured when the Bluebirds, who remain top, beat QPR at the Cardiff City Stadium. Ipswich, going into the weekend as the only other unbeaten side, lost ground on the leaders when Fulham won at Portman Road – a first victory for the Cottagers.

Millwall also collected a first Championship win when inflicting a heavy defeat on Norwich at the Den, resulting in the Canaries dropping into the bottom four, while Derby’s difficult start continued with a loss at Sheffield United, up to fifth.

Finally, in the late game on Saturday evening, Nottingham Forest missed the chance to move up to third, an opportunity taken by their visitors Leeds, when beaten at the City Ground by the Whites.

Here’s a round-up of the Championship results.
