On loan Wolves striker Sam Vokes is to return to training on Thursday, after recovering from a torn hamstring.

The 20-year-old suffered the grade two hamstring tear 13 minutes into his City debut at home to Millwall in August.

But after undergoing his rehabilitation at Molineux, the former Bournemouth target man will rejoin the rest of the City squad ahead of Saturday’s Severnside derby with Cardiff.

“Sam has been training with Wolves for a few weeks now but he’s not played any football,” manager Keith Millen told bcfc.co.uk.

“We’ll have to assess his levels of fitness when he comes back to us on Thursday.

“We’re looking to schedule a reserve game for the end of this month and he’ll be involved in that.

“Whilst he won’t come back into the first-team fold immediately, it’s great to have him back and bolstering our attacking line.”

Vokes joined on a six-month loan in August and will remain at Ashton Gate until 5 January 2011.
