‘We Need To See It Out’ – Johnson

Gary Johnson cut short of spinning disappointed City fans another crock of crap after Posh’s last-gasp goal denied us of three points.

Instead he chose to reflect on the obvious deficiances that seem to be consistently hampering our progress.

George Boyd scored with 13 seconds left on the clock to gain a deserved point for the visitors.

“They created a few chances and Dean (Gerken) had to make a couple of smart saves,” Johnson told the club’s website.

“We created a few chances as well, with Nicky’s (Maynard) one over the top early on being a big one.

“Obviously when it’s a last minute equaliser you’re gutted. You think about putting six at the back, or you could go with four up front – somehow you need two goals.

“We put Danny (Haynes) on to try and get the second, but the other two changes were enforced with Cole (Skuse) and Evander Sno both picking up knocks.

“When we’re here at Ashton Gate it’s crucial to get that second one. When you’re only 1-0 up going into the final minutes, teams will throw everything at you. It’s still up to you to see it out and we haven’t done that very well for a little while as a club.

“The lads are gutted and I’m disappointed but we’ve got to pick ourselves up for Tuesday night (against Plymouth Argyle).

“We do work on it and we’ll have to keep working on it to see if we can have the game won before the final five minutes at Ashton Gate.

“The goal (from Boyd) wasn’t their best chance and to be fair they deserved something from the game. We only had to see that out and we’d have three points.”

City host another struggling side at the Gate on Tuesday when pastie-munching Plymouth hit town and three points is an absolute must.
