Bristol City`s new-signing Aaron Wilbraham says that making the move to the Robins from the Premier League is certainly not a step down.

According to reports the striker was keen to join City after his contract was not renewed at Selhurst Park.

Wilbraham was approached by City manager Steve Cotterill and he jumped at the chance of coming to the South West, a move that he sees as an opportunity rather than a step down.

Speaking to the Bristol Post Wilbraham said “I don`t look upon myself as some big Premier League star who is dropping down? I played a lot of games in League One with MK Dons and Hull City earlier in my career and I don`t see it as a step down.

‘I`ve played in all the leagues at one stage or another and I see this move as a step in the right direction. I`d rather be playing in a team that is trying to get promoted up the leagues than not being picked at a Premier League club.”
