Bristol City go into the game unchanged from the squad that lined up against QPR all those (was it only two?) weeks ago

Basso saves well from Jay Bothroyd after early pressure from Cardiff.

Charlton 1 Wolves 0 (Nick Bailey 3)
Saggy ones 0 Walsall 1

Maynard, Johnson and McIndoe combine well but the shot is blocked. Adebola has a shot turned behind for a corner, which also comes to nothing. At the other end Ledley is thwarted by Fontaines as he shapes to shoot. Cardiff force a corner and Basso smothers the ball on the goal line – the Caaaardiff fans claim a goal.

Plymouth 0 Norwich 1 (Arturo Lupoli 15)

Ledley screams a shot just into the side netting. Many a Welshmen again thought they had scored, they were wrong.

Sheff Weds 1 Watford 0 (Marcus Tudgay 22)

Brian Wilson limps off with an injured right foot and is replaced by lifelong Cardiff City fan Gavin Williams

Crystal Palace 1 Swansea 0 (Ben Watson 28)
Nottingham Forest 0 Burnley 1 (Graham Alexander 25)
Sags 0 Walsall 2 (Stephen Roberst 24)

Ledley’s shot is blocked by Bradley Orr and Basso leaves his area to clear the ball. Phew.

Newcastle 0 Hull City 1 (Marlon King pen 34)
Krisztian Timar sent off for Plymouth

Maynard almost got behind the defence onto a long ball forward. The ball is cleared and from bBradley Orrs throw in Nicky Maynard hits the bar with a looping effort.

McIndoe forces a corner right on half time which Roger Johnson does well to clear. The half time whistle goes with Cardiff dominating the play but arguably Bristol City coming closest to scoring with Nick Maynard hitting the bar.

HT Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

A long throw sees panic in the Bristol City penalty area but Adebola clears and Bothroyd skies a ball over the bar. Bristol City break clear with Nicky Maynard but his shot is well saved by Heaton, tipping the ball for a corner. The break angered the home contingent as Maynard appeared to foul Dominguez.

Birmingham 1 Doncaster 0 (Cameron Jerome 46)

Gavin Williams sends a dipping shot just over. “We always believe” sing the Bristol City fans, and then break into the national anthem.

Nottingham Forest 1 Burnley 1 (Rob Earnshaw 52)
Newcastle 0 Hull 2 (Marlon King again 55)
Sheff Weds 2 Watford 0 (Tommy Spurr 55)

Cardiff force a couple of quick corners stinging the palms of Basso and Peter Whittingham fires just wide as this pulsating game continues from end to end amid an amazing atmosphere at Ninnian Park. Bristol City content to soak up pressure hitting on the break with the pace of Maynard.

Charlton 1 Wolves 1 (Sylvan Ebanks-Blake pen 59)
Plymouth 0 Norwich 2 (Antoine Sibierski 59)

Another run from Maynard sees him shoot wide with McIndoe screaming for the ball in support. A McIndoe shot is deflected over after good work from Gavin Williams. From the corner Skuse and Orr just fail to score putting the ball inches wide. Steve Brooker comes on in place of Dele Adebola. Ross McCormack comes on for Paul Parry who has impressed on the wing for Cardiff.

Ipswich 1 Reading 0 (Jonathon Stead 68)
Crystal Palace 2 Swansea 0 (NICK CARLE 66)

Basso forced into another save after a mistake from Liam Fontaine.

Nottingham Forest 1 Burnley 2 (Graham Alexander pen 70)

Pressure from Cardiff and penalty claims are waved away for handball, but City still look dangerous on the break (until Carey shoots high wide and not so handsome). Maynard shoots straight at Heaton having worked himself into space. Basso catches a Cardiff corner to reassure the Bristol contingent.

Basso makes yet another brilliant save from a Whittingham shot. City break and McIndoe and Johnson combine to set up Skuse who heads just over the bar. A Cardiff free kick sees Basso save a Bothroyd header.

Charlton 1 Wolves 2 (Sam Vokes 81)

Bristol City force a corner with 5 minutes left but it is cleared. Ivan Sproule replaces Nicky Maynard (86 mins). At the other end Gavin Rae slices a shot well wide of Basso’s goal.
Ivan Sproule is booked and less than a minute later squares up to McPhail and is fortunate not to be booked for a second time with less than a mionute of the game left.

Blackpool 1 Barnsley 0
Charlton 1 Wolves 3
Ipswich 2 Reading 0

Cardiff win a free kick 25 yrds out as the fourth official signals two minutes of injury time. City line up a six man wall and Basso saves Whittinghams effort which is on target.

The game continues from end to end and Skuse has an effort before there are howls for a Cardiff penalty as Basso comes out and collides with the Cardiff player in claiming the ball.

Plymouth 1 Norwich 2 (Paul Gallagher 90)

The final whistle goes on what was one of the best goal-less draws you can imagine.
