Bristol City have snapped up Stoke City striker Peter Odemwingie on a loan deal that will keep him at Ashton Gate until the end of the season.

The 34 year old has only managed eight appearances this season as the Stoke squad improves, but the striker goes straight into the squad that travels to Fulham on Saturday.

Manager Lee Johnson promised that he would do his best to bring in a proven striker as soon as possible and he was delighted to have secured the services of Odemwingie.

He told the club’s official website: “I`m delighted we`ve been able to bring someone of Peter`s quality in. He`ll provide us with experience and hopefully goals in one form or another.

“I`m looking forward to working with him and he`ll be available for us at Fulham.”

Stoke swapped the Nigeria international for Kenwynne Jones when they got him from Cardiff City, before that he was with West Brom for three seasons where he netted 30 goals from 90 appearances.

Odemwingie has also plied his trade in Russia, Belgium, France and Nigeria.

His record for Stoke stands at 31 games and five goals, but he has been out of the side for long spells with injuries.
