Carey May Return To Ashton Gate One Day?

Bristol City legend Louis Carey has had what he describes as an unbelievable time since he signed for the club he supported as a youngster.

After spending 19 years at the club Carey was released by manager Steve Cotterill, but at 37 years old, Carey is not about to hang up his boots figuring that he could maybe play for another year.

He told the Bristol Post: ‘I want to play for another season if I can, because I still feel fit and well and think I have something to offer. Playing in the Under-21s was not what I was used to and it was inevitable that I would leave City this summer. As one door closes, another usually opens and I’m open to offers.’

Carey is hoping to add further strings to his bow by acquiring a UEFA A-licence coaching badge this summer and hopes to move into management some time in the none to distant future.

He added: ‘I want to travel abroad and learn from big clubs such as Bayern Munich and Barcelona and, when I come back, start applying for jobs.

‘I have ambitions to go into that side of the game, and I’ve been fortunate to learn from some very good managers during my time as a player.’

And as for the rumours about him becoming part of the backroom staff at Ashton Gate some time, it was not ruled out.

‘Who knows, I may even end up with a role back at Bristol City in the future.’ he finished.
