Bristol City set to announce the signing of out-of-contract Rotherham target man Ryan Taylor.

The 23-year-old had agreed to join Millwall last week, but had a last minute change of heart when learning of City’s interest.

The Robins have offered him a three-year contract although the Robins have yet to come to an agreement with Rotherham over compensation, as the player is under 24 years of age.

“He is exactly the kind of player Keith is after,” an Ashton Gate insider said. “Taylor is highly-rated, still young, improving all the time, willing to learn and hungry to do well.

“He is also out of contract and, as such, represents value for money.”

Boss Keith Millen added: “He’s the sort of forward we’ve been after for a while, probably since we lost Dele Adebola.

“He’s a mobile target-man who is good with the ball at his feet. He’s got an excellent left foot and can chip in with goals.

“We’re getting him at a great age. I sat down to speak with him and his desire to prove himself at Championship level is evident. I look forward to working with him.”

The 6ft 2in ginger drove to and from South Yorkshire to conclude the deal on Monday, having scored 24 goals in 92 starts since making his debut at Millmoor in 2005.
