City’s caretaker manager Keith Millen has revealed that new gaffer Steve Coppell is already making his mark at Ashton Gate – from the comfort of his sun lounger in America!

Coppell officially takes up the reigns at Ashton Gate on May 11 but Millen has already spoken of an instruction to change formation from across the Atlantic.

Millen said: “Steve called and asked me if we could go back to a flat back four for the game (vs Derby).

“He left me to pick the team, but we discussed the shape and the tactics and decided we wanted to go with a back four. We feel that is the way for us to go next season.

“Perhaps five at the back is not an ideal way to play if you want to win promotion,”
he told the Bristol Evening Post.

Coppell’s teams have usually played a 4-4-2 formation with width, a joy us City’s fans have been starved of since Scotty Murray’s heyday.
