Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill is still looking to bring in three more fresh faces as he looks to begin an assault on league one this season.

But although he knows that the players are needed it is very unlikely that anyone will be signed before City take on Sheffield United in the new season’s opening game at Bramall Lane.

A goalkeeper, defender and a striker are Cotterill’s likely targets, but he also knows that one player can be bought in and the other two who have to see the City boss making deals with players going out.

Speaking to reporters Cotterill said: ‘In an ideal world, I probably want three more players.

‘One could come in and add to the squad, but the other two positions might be filled potentially by trading.

‘Maybe there could be one addition (before the season starts), but I’m not sure about that at this moment in time.’
