Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill doesn’t really want to delve into the loan market just at the moment to find a short term replacement for Scott Wagstaff.

Wagstaff looks like being out of action for around six weeks due to a problem with his shoulder and a replacement could be found in the loan market, the window of which opens today (Thursday).

But although he has the loan option available, Cotterill would much rather not go down that route until there is more news on Karleigh Osborne’s hamstring strain as he can also play on the right.

When asked about making a loan signing, Cotterill told reporters: ‘I don’t know if we’ll end up doing that (making a loan signing) this week.

‘The loan window opens on Friday and that might be an option for us.

‘But I want to wait and see how Karleigh Osborne is. There is no point in bringing in yet another new face and then having to wait for them to settle into the team before I know more about Karleigh.’

City take on Oldham t Boundary Park on Saturday and Osborne is rated 50/50.
