City manager Steve Cotterill was happy with his side’s first run out of the pre-season games and the fact that they beat Portishead Town 6-1 was a bonus.

Karleigh Osborne, Bobby Reid, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Scott Wagstaff (two) and Lewis Hall were all on target as they walked through he first game without any real problems.

The manager gave his thoughts on the performance via the club’s YouTube channel when he said: “I got a lot of satisfaction out of that.

“It was a good game for everyone; us, them and the community. The game was extra on what the players have done throughout the week, mainly double sessions. I`m sure they`ll sleep well tonight.’

Cotterill also reserved praise for the home goalkeeper, who he felt played a major part in keeping the score down

“It`s good to get some goals, especially for confidence. It could have been a lot more but for their keeper (Seb Gribble); if anyone was man of the match then it was him.”
