Bristol City have turned down an approach from Brighton and Hove Albion to sign last season’s top scorer Sam Baldock.

Baldock hit 24 goals last season and City want him to play a major part in this season’s attempt to get back into the Championship.

There has been no conformation from the club’s official site, but the Bristol Post says that an undisclosed offer had been turned down as the powers that be look to back Cotterill in a promotion attempt.

The 25-year-old has still a year left to run on his contract and at the moment the club don’t have to do any selling just to balance the books and they will be doing their level best to keep hold of their prize asset.

Another offer will no doubt come in and the club hopes that transfer speculation will not prove to be too much of a distraction for the player who has twelve months left on his current contract.
