Coventry City substitute Gary Deegan grabbed the all important goal in the game against Bristol City at the Ricoh Arena on Boxing Day.

It was a bit of a blow to City to lose to a Coventry side who had not been able to win a game in 12 league outings.

The goal came with just 18 minutes left on the clock when Deegan was first to a loose ball after Richard Wood had taken the initial free kick, it was their first goal in four games.

As for the rest of this game of missed chances, City had the better of things early on with Adomah running things, he was denied a penalty by the ref and managed to hit the side netting as the Robins looked for an opening.

The home side were also guilty of wasting chances Carl Baker fired wide when it was easier to score and then Gary McSheffrey fired hopelessly high over the bar.

But they got the goal on 72 minutes and that`s what separated the two sides.
