Aden Flint is hoping that City’s newly vamped Ashton Gate stadium can become something of a fortress next season as the club embark the Championship.

City have spent the last two seasons in league one and they hope that they can make an explosive start next season, which would lay down the footings of a good season to come.

City had a wonderful season at home last term, the place was not the favourite ground to visit of most of the opposition that played there and Flint is hoping that it will be the same situation for visitors next time around after City won 16 and drew five of their games at home last season.

Only two sides came to the Gate and went away with maximum points, that was Sheffield United and one of City’s promotion rivals, Preston.

This time around, instead of playing in front of crowds of around 13,000, there will be room for 16,000 to roar the lads onto victory.

Flint told the WDP: ‘Now that the new stand is nearly finished, the atmosphere will be that much better next season.

‘The more noise out fans make and the more of them who are in the ground, then the more difficult it will be for the opposition. When the stadium is completely finished, it will be a real fortress.’
