City have revealed that Liam Fontaine’s injury will rule him out for at least three weeks.

Font’s missed the Newcastle game with an ankle ligament injury, but a precautionary scan revealed the injury is worse than first feared.

Boss Gary Johnson revealed: “Liam’s injury is worse than we feared. He went for the scan on Monday and it showed up ligament damage. He will be out for a minimum of three weeks and maybe longer.”

Luckily, Lewin Nyatanga appears back to full fitness now so the gap should be plugged but given Fontaine’s impressive form this year, the news comes as a blow.

Meanwhile, full-back Jamie McAllister, who was forced off with a shin injury at half-time against the Toon, should return to training early next week.
