Wilson In A Hurry

Defender James Wilson is once again earning rave reviews for his loan spell at League One side Brentford and is clearly a man in a hurry.

Wilson, 20, was loaned out by City to re-join Brentford on a three-month loan in August and has starred for the Bees ever since.

With his path seemingly blocked by deadwood like Jamie McCombe at City, Wilson is eyeing the Michael Turner blueprint for success.

“I played most of the friendlies at City before the season started and thought I was going to be involved, but they brought the big guns back and I didn`t get a look in,” he told Your Local Guardian.co.uk.

Turner, 25, completed a £6m move from Hull to Sunderland in the summer having learnt his trade with at Griffin Park after failing to break through at Charlton.

“I could have just knocked around in the reserves, but I want to be playing. Doing what Michael did by coming to Brentford is a good approach for young players and he shows it works.

“Once the gaffer got in touch I was always going to come. I love being here. The manager has been brilliant. He is helping me develop my game and I`m just enjoying playing regularly.”

A lot of City fans would love to see Wilson in the first-team squad right now but his failure to break through is surely going to reignite the debate about how useful our Academy actually is.
