Gary Johnson has admitted his team for the Championship’s big kick-off at Preston next week is pretty much settled.
After his team comfortably saw off Wycombe Wanderers in City’s last pre-season friendly yesterday, Johnson declared himself pleased with the shape and the level of performance his new-look team produced.
City played five of their new summer recruits yesterday and are likely to hand them all senior debuts at Deepdale next Saturday.
Johnson told bcfc.co.uk: ‘I was pleased with that group of lads and it will take something to move them out at the moment.
‘We’re reaching a decent bit of form and we don’t want to change that. I know where we’re going.
‘We’ve got another practice game on Monday but we’ve only got seven days until the Preston game and not a lot will change between now and then.’
City fans can expect at least one change this week after Johnson expected a new keeper to arrive early next week.
Man City’s Kapser Schmeichel and Pompey’s Jamie Ashdown are both being heavily linked with a move to Ashton Gate.
