Bristol City goalkeeper David James still harbours hopes of playing for England again even though he is plying his trade in the Championship.
The 40-year-old last donned an England shirt against a German side that put four past him during last summer’s World Cup in South Africa.
But James still lives in hope, despite signing a one-year extension to remain at Ashton Gate next season.
He said: “I genuinely live in hope. If I got to 54 caps, I’d be hoping for a 55th. I still have a hunger for success and that fire in my belly.
“I do have an eye on coaching and management and I want to take my coaching badges and move into that side of the game when I finish playing. But that is still very much in the future. At the moment, my focus is on playing.”
