Bristol mayor George Ferguson’s initial reaction to Bristol City’s new plans to redevelop the Ashton Gate ground if all else fails is a good one.
Yesterday the club announced that it had been looking into a £40million scheme for the existing ground.
The idea is that games continue at the ground while work would be carried out to stands, eventually resulting in a stadium that would hold 26,000 fans.
Work would be set to be completed by the 2018/17 season.
Mr Ferguson said via Twitter: “This is great news for #BristolCity & Ashton community. Plans have my strong #BristolMayor backing. Let`s all get behind it.”
