It wasn`t Bristol City`s best display when they went down 3-0 at home to Leeds United at the weekend.
Reduced to nine men you don`t have much of a chance of winning anything, not that I think City could have beat Leeds with all eleven players on the pitch, far from it.
But Bristol City manager Derek McInnes thought differently, he felt that the sending`s off were the turning point of a game that the Robins were still in until the red was shown.
Snodgrass opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a low drive from McCormack’s pass.
The problems started just before the break when Wilson brought down McCormack and as he was the last man the ref had no choice but to send him off.
But then Bolasie was booked twice in as many minutes for fouls early in the second half and Leeds had it easy from then on.
McCormack made it 2-0 with a left-foot shot in the 79th minute and after a succession of chances, Becchio blasted the third past David James in stoppage time.
McInnes said: ‘I thought the referee got one sending-off right and the other wrong. Wilson didn’t get a touch on the ball so he had to go, but the red card for Bolasie was very harsh.
‘The Leeds player made the most of the challenge for his first booking and there was no intent to bring his opponent down when the second yellow card was issued.
‘The decisions affected the game, but we can’t blame the result on them. We were naive in certain situations and need to learn the lessons from that.
‘I was short of defenders through injury even before Wilson’s sending-off so I will be trying to bring someone in on loan as soon as possible.’
