McInnes Still Sees Positives.

Bristol City manager Derek McInnes saw his side go down 1-0 at Huddersfield but felt that they were unlucky in falling to a defeat.

This was a fifth straight defeat for Bristol City and McInnes must now be feeling the pressure as the side sit next to bottom of the Championship table.

But McInnes was of the opinion that his side did all the hard work on Huddersfield’s most likely players to score.

‘It was a solid, decent performance but one that’s not got us a result,’ McInnes said to Sky Sports.

‘We knew that Huddersfield always start games well at home and it was important we knocked them out of their stride. We were hard working and energetic and stopped their best players.

But the goal that won the game came from winger Sean Scannell just before the half time break, the exact time that you do not want to concede a goal.

McInnes also pointed out that his side had chances; they just weren’t able to take them like they normally do in games played earlier this season.

He went on: ‘We looked very comfortable for the majority of the first half. But Huddersfield scored on the stroke of half-time and that changed things.

‘They had something to hold on to and we were chasing the game. Sam Baldock had the best chance of the game from two or three yards and on another day that goes in.

‘We’ve not been finding goals difficult to come by but they were today. We have not managed to be clinical enough and passed over some good opportunities.

But all in all, once again there were positives in the game that McInnes reckons that they can work on, but this working on had better come pretty quick as City are still 23rd in the table but bottom club Ipswich won on Saturday to draw closer.
