City boss Sean O’Driscoll takes his side to Port Vale on Saturday with a bit of a worry about his defence on his mind.

In Tom Pope, Vale have a striker who can almost score at will, Bristol City on the other hand are having big problems in being able to keep a clean sheet this season.

You have to go right back to August to find the last time City produced a shut-out, since then they have had a nasty habit of conceding poor goals, often costing them a couple of points and often undoing good work produced earlier by the front men.

O’Driscoll will be looking to his defenders to stand strong on Saturday against Vale as a clean sheet might just give the Robins a full quota of points.

“We have to prevent a repeat of that situation where we concede soft goals and find ourselves fighting an uphill battle,” said O`Driscoll to the Bristol Post.

“We`re fine going forward and we`ve only failed to score a goal in one game. My concern is at the other end of the pitch and defending and, when we get that right, we will be okay.’
