Sean O’Driscoll believes that it was important for young City pair Joe Bryan and Wes Burns to go out on loan to further develop their futures in the game.

Plymouth and Forest Green Rovers are the two clubs that will benefit from their presence and he also believes that the moves will be crucial to them for getting regular first team football.

Both players made their debuts for their new sides last weekend with Burns scoring for Rovers.

O’Driscoll believes that it does not matter which league they are picking up experience in, it’s the fact that they will be playing regular that counts.

He told reporters: ‘We had to look at the bigger picture.

‘If they are going to be massive parts of this squad next season then the more football experience they can get actually playing games the better.

‘Both are good clubs and I’ve kept them and kept them because if I have a problem I could stick them on the bench but they need to go and play games.

‘Both clubs have indicated they will play both boys which is fantastic for Wes who is going to play up front, and Joe is going to play in midfield.’
