City right-back Bradley Orr has been ruled out of Saturday’s trip to the Hawthorns after suffering a setback on his return from injury.

Orr picked up an achillies injury in the 3-2 win over Barnsley at Oakwell last month and returned to full training on Monday.

But the Scouser’s injury appears to be worse than first feared and could even rule him out of Sheffield United’s trip to Bristol next weekend.

Gary Johnson told the club’s website: “We had hoped that he would be back in training and in contention for the West Brom game this week, but that has not happened.

“It is likely he will be out of action for at least seven to 10 days.

“No one is more disappointed than Brad, because he thought he was on the way back.”

Orr’s setback means Cole Skuse will continue to plug the gap on the right, with Lee Johnson and Marvin Elliott competing for one slot in central midfield.
