Bristol City got their home league games off to a flyer last night a they hammered Crystal Palace 4-1 at Ashton Gate.

The Robins had a new man to show off to the crowd before the game in the shape of Sam Baldock who joined the club from West Ham United.

City were looking good, Jon Stead almost had the home side in front, but the woodwork stopped his effort.

No problem though, on nine minutes the Robins had the ball in the net when Stead set up Ryan Taylor and he hammered the ball home for 1-0.

Palace were visibly shook by that and three minutes later they conceded again, Martyn Woolford provided the enjoyment this time, firing home from inside the box.

In the second half it took City just ten minutes to add the third goal of the game after Jonathan Parr brought down Stead in the box and the same player got up to take the kick and easily netted.

Palace could have given up at that point, but full credit to them, they kept plugging away and were rewarded for their efforts with 25 minutes left on the clock. Good build up play from Owen Garvan and Wilbraham allowed Kagisho Dikgacoi to grab a goal back.

But City hit their fourth with nine minutes left on the clock, this time it was Albert Adomah with a low shot from 25 yards.
