Bristol City have rejected two further bids from Leicester City for Nicky Maynard.
The Foxes have stepped up their hunt to bring the 24-year-old to the King Power Stadium after being snubbed in their pursuit of Craig Mackail-Smith, who joined newly-promoted Brighton on Monday.
But City remain defiant and have reiterated their stance that the former Crewe striker will not be sold to a fellow Championship club.
“Once again we have made clear our position,” chairman Colin Sexstone told bcfc.co.uk. “We do not wish to sell Nicky, especially to a rival club in our division.
“Talks continue with Nicky and his representatives with regards to a new contract.”
Sven-Goran Eriksson’s latest offer – which is believed to have stood at £4 million before various add-ons – comes just days after completing the signing of former Portsmouth striker David Nugent.
