Sheff Utd Coach On Win Over City

Coach Chris Morgan stood in for Blades manager Nigel Clough at the after match press conference and he described Sheff United’s display as ‘clinical’.

Morgan knew that the Blades would leapfrog City if they could beat them at Bramall Lane and that’s just what the side did, with some ease.

Goals from John Brayford, Ryan Flynn and a Jose Baxter penalty gave United the spoils in a game that they just could not afford to lose, especially after they have had such a good cup run, they needed to win this game just as much, if not more than their heroics in the FA Cup.

But the type of performance that United put in was that of a team chasing promotion, not one trying to get out of relegation trouble.

Morgan told reporters: ‘We always knew it wasn’t a game to lose.

‘And I think the lads have gone out there and applied themselves brilliantly. But what we have to do now is make sure we carry that on. We don’t want to relax or ease off because things are still very tight towards the bottom of the table.

‘The players, though, do deserve a lot of credit for that. They played some very good football but they also worked very hard for each other. And, in this situation, that’s important.’

The win against City made it four on the bounce for United with two games coming up next week, both away games at Gillingham and MK Dons.
