Jordan Spence has revealed it was an easy decision to extend his loan spell at Ashton Gate because he is playing for a “great club.”

The 20-year-old defender extended his loan spell from West Ham until the end of the season last week, although the Hammers have inserted a 24-hour recall clause.

And after enjoying his first month in the West Country, which also saw him make his England U21 debut, Spence was chomping at the bit to extend his loan.

“City is a great club, that is why I am here,” Spence told www.bcfc.co.uk. “I had heard good things from other people. I am living in a really lovely city, there is a great bunch of lads and a good coaching and managerial set-up.

“Three wins in four matches has been a good start
[for Spence]. When I first signed, they were on the back of two wins but it was nice to be able to come and keep that winning momentum.

“It is brilliant to be playing games, playing and winning football matches is what it is all about and when those two things work in tandem there is nothing better.

“I was really grateful for Keith Millen giving me the chance to come down and play. Hopefully I can repay that faith.”
