City centre-back Damion Stewart has praised Keith Millen’s management following a turbulent start to the season.

The big Jamaican was signed by former City manager Steve Coppell and was shocked to see the Scouser jump ship after only two games.

But Stewart believes that Millen has emerged with flying colours as City home-in a top-ten finish that looked unlikely at Christmas.

Speaking to the Bristol Evening Post, Stewart said: “I think the gaffer has done a brilliant job.

“The team has improved a lot and moved up the table and I believe we are close to having a squad that can really do something next season.

“Stability is an absolute must for any club that wants to do well and challenge for promotion and we have that here.”

Stewart is expected to take his place at the heart of the back four for tomorrow’s trip to Sheffield United.

Should City win at Bramhall Lane, and Palace win at Doncaster tonight, the Blades will be relegated.
