Bristol City gave themselves a massive confidence boost at Craven Cottage yesterday when they fought back from going a goal down very early in the game to win it very late in the game.

Lee Tomlin came up with the all important winning goal for City and it just goes to show that if you don’t give up then you could be rewarded.

It was an important game for both sides, the defeated side always had the danger of being just a point away from what looks to be the final relegation place with the winners moving on to the 40 point mark.

But its very likely that 40 points won’t be enough to guarantee safety this time around, the sooner City can get another three points or so on the board then the better I and a lot of other fans will feel about the situation.

Things couldn’t have started worse for the Robins in this game, they did force the first save of the game out of Andy Lonergan when Joe Bryan flashed in a low drive. The home side went up the other end of the field where Ross McCormack latched onto a long ball and lobbed it over Richard O’Donnell and into the net from a very tight angle.

Fulham were boosted by the goal and further chances fell to Scott Parker and Tom Cairney who both forced O’Donnell into saves.

At the other end Adam Matthews sent in a long throw which Aden Flint headed wide of the goal and then Luke Garbutt had to clear the ball off his own goalline.

Early in the second half Lee Tomlin saw a shot saved well by Lonergan

But the equaliser came from the boot of Marlon Pack who hit his first goal of the season with a sweet shot from 25 yards on 69 minutes.

And then late on when the points looked like being shared, Tomlin curled in a free kick to make sure City took the whole quota of points and silence the home crowd.

Now the Robins have a massive chance to put even more daylight between themselves and the relegation zone when they take on Bolton Wanderers at Ashton Gate next weekend
