Aaron Wilbraham says that there should be no doubt that Bristol City deserved nothing less that the full three points at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

And while it is nice to get the season off to a great start with a fine win, I do believe that if United had been a bit better off in the luck department, they could have drew.

But they do say that you make your own luck and while the Blades saw a point blank shot turned onto the post by Frank Fielding, a goal line clearance and saw a goal bound effort get deflected wide by their own player, City did defend well when they needed to.

Wilbraham told the Bristol Post: “It was a great performance from the lads and I thought we controlled the game in the second half.

“We were a bit erratic after we scored the goal in the first half and we just needed to compose ourselves a bit.’

City took the lead through Wilbraham only to see the Blades level 12 minutes later courtesy of Michael Higdon.

And the goal that proved to be the winner was some goal to witness with Wilbraham setting up Wade Elliott so skillfully.

Wilbraham added: “To score the first goal and go in front was great and we wanted to defend it, but it went a little bit wrong.

“I though the boys showed great character after that to get a foothold back in the game. We showed more composure in the second half and got the right result in the end.”
