Bristol City’s plans to build a new 30,000 seater stadium on the Ashton Vale site have been given a boost.

A Judicial review was required after Bristol City Council decided refused to give the site town green status for the site, but in an unexpected development, that has now been dropped.

And the long and short of it is that City can now go on with the development of the site and the current Ashton Gate site will be sold to Sainsbury`s.

Colin Sexstone told the club`s official website.‘We are delighted with the news. It seems common sense has prevailed.

‘It is important to stress the club has only been, and remains, an interested third party in the matter. We await official confirmation from the court that the judicial review process has ended.

‘The withdrawal of the judicial review brings a greater degree of certainty to our plans. We expect to make a considered decision in due course as to how and when we proceed with the stadium development.’
