Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy witnessed the 1-1 draw his side played out against Bristol City on Saturday and admitted he was glad to get a point.

City could have easily come away from Portman Road with the full quota of points, but after taking the lead in the 11th minute through Neil Danns, they allowed the hosts back into the game who scored a fine equaliser through Tommy Smith.

But City battled on and could have snatched to points on a few occasions, but a draw was the outcome.

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy told Ipswich’s official website: ‘We got better in the second half but didn’t play particularly well.

‘Bristol City did play well, though, and I should congratulate them. I was glad to get in at 1-1.

‘I was happy to take a point from a game we could have lost, to not lose twice on the bounce and not to crumble when we could have done.’
