Yesterday afternoon Bristol City found themselves linked with former Newcastle United and Brighton goalkeeper Tim Krul.

The 30-year-old Dutch international stopper is now a free agent following his 12-month contract with Brighton at the Amex Stadium. He joined them following his release from Newcastle and a big pull was joining back up with former manager Chris Hughton, but he just didn’t get the game time his quality should’ve dictated owing to the form of Aussie international Maty Ryan.

Krul only managed five appearances all season long in 2017/18 and despite Brighton putting a reported contract on the table for him, he decided to move on in search of more regular action.

That brings the rumour nicely to Ashton Gate as Frank Fielding did pick up a knock in our last friendly and he hasn’t travelled to Marbella with the rest of the group but as of yet, the severity of his problem isn’t known – although it goes without saying hopefully it’s not too serious.

In any event, Krul would clearly be an asset to us given his experience and plenty of fans relish the thought of seeing him line up between the sticks next season.
